Success Story: WIC Learning Garden
The Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), with help from Beside growing how-to's, the garden lets children see that food doesn’t have to come pre-packaged from grocery stores. They also harvest vegetables when they visit WIC for nutrition education. The Green Youth Farm, a partner of WIC, is a leadership program in which students grow fresh food for area farmers markets. Students contribute to the success of the WIC garden by weeding, pruning and harvesting.
