About the Artist... Theresa Mezebish

Many of you -- especially children -- have raved about the captivating artwork featured in Our Super Garden (2011), Our Generous Garden (2008), and their bilingual editions.

It's the handiwork of Maryland-based artist Theresa Mezebish, who used special techniques to manipulate photographs and give them a pop-art presence.

The "earthy" overlay and winding vine help emphasize the garden that transcends the story and give the images a timeless quality. 

This approach also allows Theresa to draw the reader's eyes to important elements of the image -- elements that reinforce the story's text.

Some of her favorite images in Our Super Garden include the cover, which features the infectious smile of a proud young gardener, and a precious blueberry eater.

As creative director of Dancing Rhinoceros Press, Inc., Theresa has designed and produced six books, including Time Masters (2009) and In My Shoes: Humor, Beauty, Spirit (2007).

She is especially fascinated with typography, drawing, painting and photography, and has designed magazines, web sites, logos and public relations materials. 

Theresa finds inspiration by watching her daughters discover the joys of art making. She received her B.F.A. from the Maine College of Art.
